Speeder Wreck in Lower Levels

Tracked a mark through the lower levels for six hours. He thought he could outrun me on a souped-up 74-Z. He was wrong.

The chase ended when he tried to take a corner at full throttle. Lost control, slammed into a support column. Bike's totalled. Mark walked away with a concussion and a broken arm.

Easier to transport alive when they can't run.

Collected the bounty plus hazard pay for the property damage. Lower level guards don't ask questions when you flash Guild credentials.

The Bounty on Arvala-7

The tracking fob led me to Arvala-7. Again. I'd rather face a mudhorn than another week in those canyons.

The mark was a Devaronian spice smuggler named Xarath. Five thousand credits, dead or alive. Guild doesn't care which, but alive means more pay. I prefer that anyway. Less mess to clean up.

I tracked him for three days through the northern canyonlands. The sandstorms this season are brutal. Had to seal the helmet twice to keep the grit out. My armor took a beating from the wind—scratches on the right shoulder plate that'll need buffing out.

Found him holed up in an abandoned moisture farm. Old Jedi-era structure, half-buried in sand. Smart choice, except he left tracks in the dust. Rookie mistake.

He tried to run. They always try to run.

Disrupted his speeder with a whistling bird to the engine housing. He went down soft. No permanent damage. The Guild paid the full five thousand plus a hazard bonus for the storms.

Spent the night in the Razor Crest, listening to sand scrape against the hull. Made me think about how quiet the covert used to be. The forge fires at night. The Armorer's hammer.

Complications

Problem. The Hutts want Sorr too.

Spotted a Nikto crew casing the same building. Hutt Cartel muscle. They're not as subtle—loud, obvious, armed to the teeth.

Seems Sorr double-crossed the wrong Hutt during his Imperial days. Cartel put a price on his head. Dead, not alive.

This complicates things. Fifty thousand credits requires Sorr breathing. The Hutts just want him dead. They'll settle for less.

I could let them take him. Less work for me. But the Guild contract is clear, and I don't like sharing.

Plus, the Hutts would kill him messy. He deserves a trial. Let the New Republic sort out his crimes.

Moved up my timeline. Tonight, not tomorrow.

The Contract: Verdan Sorr

Greef sent the briefing this morning. High priority, high pay.

Target: Verdan Sorr. Former Imperial Intelligence officer. War crimes. Escaped during the Battle of Jakku, been hiding in the Outer Rim for ten years.

The New Republic wants him alive. Trial, they said. Justice.

Fifty thousand credits. Alive only. No disintegrations, no accidents.

I took the contract. The Razor Crest needs engine work, and this will cover it with credits to spare.

Sorr was last seen on Ord Mantell. Time to start hunting.

Carbonite Chamber Malfunction

Carbonite chamber shorted out again. Third time this cycle. Can't freeze the mark properly, which means I'm hauling a conscious Twi'lek thief across three sectors in the holding cell.

He's complaining about the food. The temperature. The noise.

Tempted to space him and collect the "dead" bounty instead.

Greef better appreciate this.
