The bounty hunter's promise

<blockquote> <p>&quot;I can bring you in warm, or I can bring you in cold. That's my choice. The Guild doesn't care which, but I do. Warm means more work—restraint, care, planning. Cold means quick, means easy, means I didn't try hard enough. Every mark gets the same offer: cooperate and live, resist and... well. That's on them. I've been doing this a long time. I've learned that mercy isn't weakness. It's just another kind of strength.&quot;</p> </blockquote> <p>I've said these words a hundred times. Most listen. Some don't.</p> <p>The ones who don't... they learn the hard way.</p> <p>But I always give them the choice.</p> <p>Related hunts: <a href="/the-bounty-on-arvala-7/" class="wikilink" data-title="The Bounty on Arvala-7" data-description="A side job tracking a spice smuggler through the deserts of Arvala-7" data-date="2026-02-05" data-preview="A side job tracking a spice smuggler through the deserts of Arvala-7">Arvala-7</a>, <a href="/ambush-in-the-asteroid-field/" class="wikilink" data-title="Ambush in the Asteroid Field" data-description="Pirates in the remains of a dead world" data-date="2026-01-15" data-preview="Pirates in the remains of a dead world">asteroid ambush</a></p> <p>This is the way.</p>
